On Saturday the
5th of September, 6 teams competed for the under 12 hurling Des
Foley Cup and Lar Foley Shield at Pairc Naomh Uinsionn.
In Group One there
was Clara from Kilkenny, Naomh Eoin of Belfast and Ballyboden St. Enda`s. In
the Group Two, there was St. Vincents, Ballygalet of Down, and Glynn-Barntown
of Wexford. Both groups were competitive with Naomh Eoin and St. Vincents
emerging to go through to the final and Clara and Ballygalet going through to
the Shield. Ballyboden and Gylnn-Barntown both narrowly missed out and were
great credit to their respective Clubs.
Naomh Eoin were
deserving winners of the final, with a fine display of hurling throughout the
day and Clara emerged victorious in the Shield. The standard of
hurling and sportsmanship displayed throughout the day was excellent and great
credit is due to the Juvenile Club Officers and the parents of the St.
Vincent`s under 12 boys who ensured that our guests were well taken care
