U16 Camogie - Pink Day Finalists
Monday, 26 July 2010

The Leinster Camogie Pink weekend 2010 was a resounding success - great sporting competition, varied events and monies donted will go to to support the Marie Keating Foundation. Well done to all the teams and parents and officials who travelled from all corners of the province.
Dublin were represented by St.Vincents and Na Fianna

Weekend report from Denis Mulfaul - U16 Manager

St.Vincents U16 camogie team competed last weekend in the first ever Leinster Under 16 Feile which was played in  Thomas Davis in Tallaght. We played in Division 1 competing on Saturday in a group with Oulert na Ballagh from Wexford and Windgap from Kilkenny. In our first match we drew with Oulert before convincingly beating Windgap to qualify for the semi final which would be against Oilgate from Wexford.

In the semi final the girls produced a brilliant display in the second half to overcome a 4 point deficit with ten minutes remaining to end up winning by 5 points thanks to some excellent scores from Tess Coyne and Ashling Maher. It was however a huge team effort over the whole day that got us through to the final.

The final took place in Thomas Davis at 1 O, Clock on Sunday, and we were delighted with the large support that arrived out. We were however unfortunate to lose Eva Marie Elliott from the Saturday team and on the day we had the bare fifteen players available and despite great work and a never say die attitude by all the girls we were beaten by a very good Oulert team who we had drew with the previous day.

Myself, Tom, Willie and Edel would like to thank all the girls involved in particular Niamh Clinton who came back from Donegal to play and to Shauna Mc Bride and Sarah Flynn who arrived in from Leitrim. Also a big thanks to Tess Coyne and Mary Cronin from the Under 14s who were outstanding on both days.
