Davitts Club History Davitts, founded in 1979 caters for girls from Ballinakill, Duniry, Tynagh and Woodford. Davits have many underage titles and completed a hat trick of Senior A titles between 2003 and 2005. They reached three All Ireland Club Finals but have yet to capture this coveted title. Davitts had many representatives on Galway teams, most notably Anne Broderick, Olivia Broderick and Caitriona Finneagan on the 1996 Senior All Ireland winning side. In 2012 Lorraine Farrell (Capt.), Maria Breheny, Aine Dervan, Lisa Shiel and Tara Murphy were on victorious Galway Minor panel. Davitts made it two in a row of Galway Feile titles by retaining the cup in 2012. Davitts were involved in the National Feile Finals in 1980, 1992, 1996 2000, 2002, 2010, 2011 and 2012. They won Division B in 1992 and reached the A Final in 2000 and 2002.
Feile na nGael has always held a very special place in the hearts of St. Vincents people. Who can forget the excitement of the late, great Sean McMahon and his great pal Daithi O`B on their annual pilgrimages to Feile, whether the Club was participating or not!
As part of building up momentum for this year`s competition, we are inviting past players, mentors and supporters to share their own, unique memories of Feile with the rest of the Club, and particularly with this year`s players and mentors. A special "National Feile na nGael 2012" section has been included on our Club website and a number of our camogie players who were involved in National Feiles in the 2000s have given their accounts of those special times: http://www.stvincentsgaa.ie/viewdetails.aspx?ID=2517&m=n&t=6 It would be fantastic to add as many more memories as possible before Feile, so please have a think about it and please also circulate this email further because there are so many Club members, past and present, who have such great stories to tell!
