Under 9`s 3 team Match Report Saturday 28th April 2012 vs Nh.Mearnog`s
Game 1 In game one, Vinny`s were playing against the wind and had much of the opening play with Aaron Nolan scoring the opening point with follow up points from Tadgh Keenan, Cian Langan and Paddy Gilroy. Naomh Mearnog replied with two fine points from play. Half time score St Vincent`s 0-4 to Naomh Mearnog 0-2. There was some great defensive work from Josh Kelly, David Keating and Aaron Dunne. In the 2nd half great game sense and decision making resulted in Paddy Gilroy scoring 4 quick points, another from Tadgh Keenan and the only goal of the match from David Keating. Paddy Gilroy finished off another 2 points, Naomh Mearnog didn`t drop the heads and played some very good football with a further 3 points scored against the wind in the second half with again the defensive work from Vinny`s being the difference in the end. Final score St Vincents 1-12 to 0-5 Naomh Mearnog. Game 2:
The Vins lads began the first half with the aid of a strong breeze behind them. After a shaky start that saw the vins boys kicking 6 wides, they settled down and with fine points from Cian Stanley, Bill Costello (2) and 2-1 from Centre Back Daniel Peel, we took a 2-4 to 0-0 lead at half time. There was some great defending by full back Andrew Smyth and a great save from our 5 year old guest player Bobby Peel to keep the opposition scoreless. The 2nd half would see the boys playing very intelligent football against the wind. High workrate and great team play from all the boys resulted in points for Rory Dunne, Oisin Fitzpatrick (3), Oisin Mulcahy 1-1 Bill Costello (1) and Daniel Peel chipping over 3 points. There was great defending by all the boys which restricted Naomh Mearnog to only 1 point. Final score St Vincents 3-13 to 0-1 Naomh Mearnog.
Game 3:
This game began well for Vinny`s with good scores from Adam Reynolds hand, Flor Holden and Matthew Gibney with some good creative play and defending from Ethan Canty, Conall O`Briain, Eoghan Langan, Milo Dennahy. The breeze didn`t impact on the teams performance and they had a good lead by half time. St Vincent`s 1-3 to Naomh Mearnog 0-1. The second half brought more of the same with good team play all round and a strong display by Ethan Canty who got a few good scores from play and a final push saw Vinny`s home. Final score St Vincents 2-11 to Naomh Mearnog 0-3. |
