League 5 Hurling V`s Liffey Gaels 25/6/2010
This match was played in Liffey Gaels ground on Sarsfield Road on a good evening for hurling - little breeze and coolish. The match was scheduled to start at 7.45 but as they had only 13 players the referee insisted we should start with 13 players also. It delayed the match 25 minutes as we thought that we were entitled to start with 15 players and not be penalized. The St. Vincent`s players seemed to be ruffled with the whole incident and did not play well in the first half. The half time score was 0-5 to 0-4 in favour of Liffey Gaels. A goalfest by substitute Richie Hession in the second half - who scored goals in the 32nd, 42nd and 53rd minute gave us the momentum to secure a victory. The second half was a much livelier affair - even the cider drinkers on the edge of the park began to take an interest in the match. Our free taking was of a much higher standard in the second half.
The full time score was 3-9 to 2-7 in favour of St. Vincent`s.
